Drivers in Schaumburg, IL and the greater Chicago area lead busy lives, and sometimes, it would be nice to just take a moment to get something done, or relax. As it currently stands, behind the wheel of a vehicle you can't, and shouldn't attempt these things. That's because we need to be alert and safe, and looking out for others on the road while actively driving at all times. With a new Volvo, there are many features aimed at keeping us safe, and soon, the automaker hopes there is one that will let the vehicle do some driving while we get a spare moment for something else.

Volvo has announced that in 2017, it hopes to have 100 functional autonomous (self-driving) cars in the city of Gothenburg, Sweden, where the automaker is headquartered. The project is called "Drive Me" and in partnership with the Swedish government, Volvo hopes its home nation will become the first place to not record a traffic incident like a collision with the self-driving cars.

The video does a good job explaining the whole process, and showing us the vast potential the "Drive Me" project has. Here at Patrick Volvo, we can't wait to see what comes out of it by 2017.

In the meantime, we invite you to stop in and see us here in our showroom where we'd be happy to discuss the current collection of safe, stylish, and technologically-advanced new Volvo lineup. Our team can answer any questions you might have, and arrange test drives at your convenience.
