Taking a yachting trip around the world sounds like a relaxing way to live your life, right? However, when you're involved in the Volvo Ocean Race that takes place every 3 years, instead of relaxing in your yacht like a mogul drinking champagne, you're actually racing 38,739 nautical miles in poor weather conditions and living off freeze-dried food. So much for mimosas and flip-flops.
To commemorate the 40th anniversary of this race, Volvo will be releasing their Ocean Race Special Edition line up at the Geneva Motor Show this March.
Volvo will start producing 16,000 of these models in spring, so while we aren't sure if they will be available stateside it looks like there's a good chance we could get some at our Schaumburg, IL location.
Volvo has released four other ocean editions and we are excited to see this fifth generation. Lovers of luxury, Volvo, and water can find this edition in the following models:
- Volvo V60
- Volvo V70
- Volvo XC60
They can also choose from the following ocean-inspired colors: Ocean Blue II, Bright Silver, Black Sapphire, and Crystal White. Expect additional chrome and a cargo cover that has a map of the Ocean Race.
At Patrick Volvo we loved the beautiful interior choices of black or blond leather that has contrasting orange stitching for extra pop. In fact, this isn't the first time we've seen a Volvo with orange accents. The Concept XC Coupe was adorned with the bright highlighting, so this may be a common feature in new Volvo models.
