What do a thousand Swedish cars have in common? If you guessed it has to do with safety technology, you're on the right track.

These cars are part of a test program for connected cars.

As you can see from the video, connected cars are going to operate with cloud computing, using data generated from the car's sensors.

Most cars already have computers which assist with traction control, so it's an easy enough leap to transmit that traction data so it's readable by other cars.

We think it will likely work by creating a sort of map of the roads, and what conditions can be expected along a route. When you near an area with slippery or difficult terrain, the driver will receive a warning, alerting them to drive carefully.

At least, that's what we, at Patrick Volvo can gather from the short video. Hopefully, as the program goes on, we'll hear more about it. Maybe we'll even see connected cars in our inventory soon.
